Turn the Savings Lock on

Your savings are yours. The free Savings Lock lets you get your savings extra protected from scammers who want to steal your money. Sooner or later, you, too, may have to deal with them. Scammers like to use time pressure, and they use clever ploys to trick you into transferring money quickly. To make sure you don’t fall victim to fraud and lose your savings, turn on the Savings Lock and eliminate fraud.

After 24 hours, you will once again be able to transfer money from your savings account

If the Savings Lock is on, nobody can access your savings — not even you! If you need your savings, make sure you turn the Savings Lock off in good time. It will take 24 hours before you can transfer money from your savings account to your current account.

How to turn the Savings Lock on and off on the ABN AMRO app

How to turn the Savings Lock on

  1. Open the ABN AMRO app and log in.
  2. Tap the savings account for which you want to turn on the Savings Lock.
  3. Tap Self service at the top right of your screen.
  4. Tap Set Savings Lock.
  5. A screen now opens in Internet Banking.
  6. Do you have more savings accounts where you want to activate the Savings Lock? Tap again the savings account for which you want to turn on the Savings Lock.
  7. Set the slider to on.
  8. Click Turn the Savings Lock on.
  9. Click Ok.

The Savings Lock is now on and you cannot access your savings.

  • You can transfer money to your savings account in the usual way.
  • You can’t transfer money from your savings account.
  • Your savings are extra protected from scammers.

You will get a message confirming that the Savings Lock on your savings account has been turned on. If in fact you did not do this, please contact us right away.

How to turn the Savings Lock off

  1. Open the ABN AMRO app and log in.
  2. Tap the savings account for which you want to turn on the Savings Lock.
  3. Tap Self service at the top right of your screen.
  4. Tap Set Savings Lock.
  5. A screen now opens in Internet Banking.
  6. Do you have more savings accounts where you want to deactivate the Savings Lock? Then tap the savings account for which you want to turn off the Savings Lock.
  7. Set the slider to off.
  8. Click Turn the Savings Lock off.

The Savings Lock is now off and you will be able to access your savings again after 24 hours.

  • After 24 hours, you will once again be able to transfer money from your savings account
  • You can transfer money to your savings account in the usual way
  • You can turn the Savings Lock back on at any time, even less than 24 hours after you have turned it off

You will get a message confirming that the Savings Lock on your savings account has been turned off. If in fact you did not do this, please contact us right away.

How to turn the Savings Lock on and off on Internet Banking

How to turn the Savings Lock on

  1. Go to Internet Banking and log in.
  2. Click on your savings account in the account overview.
  3. Find the Savings Lock above the search bar and payment orders. You will see a small lock icon. Click on it.
  4. A window will open on the right side of the screen. Slide the toggle to on and click on Activate Savings Lock.
  5. The Savings Lock is now active. You cannot access your savings.

Do you have more than one savings account? Then follow the steps per savings account on which you want to switch on the Savings Lock.

  • You can transfer money to your savings account in the usual way.
  • You can’t transfer money from your savings account. 
  • Your savings are extra protected from scammers.

You will get a message confirming that the Savings Lock on your savings account has been turned on. If in fact you did not do this, please contact us right away.

How to turn the Savings Lock off

  1. Log into Internet Banking.
  2. Click on your savings account in the account overview.
  3. Click More options at the top right of your screen, then select Savings Lock.
  4. Do you have more than one savings account? Then click again at the top of your screen on the savings account on which you want to switch off the Savings Lock.
  5. Slide bar to off and then click on the button Turn Savings Lock off.

The Savings Lock is now off and you will be able to access your savings again after 24 hours.

 

  • After 24 hours, you will once again be able to transfer money from your savings account.
  • You can transfer money to your savings account in the usual way.
  • You can turn the Savings Lock back on at any time, even less than 24 hours after you have turned it off.

You will get a message confirming that the Savings Lock on your savings account has been turned off. If in fact you did not do this, please contact us right away.
