Paying bills following a death

If you receive any bills in the deceased’s name, we will probably be able to pay them for you from the deceased’s account. If the balance is sufficient, we can transfer the amount due right away. If the balance is not sufficient, we will contact you.

What bills can I send?

Any bills made out to the deceased or relating to the estate, such as:

  • Energy bills for the home, such as gas, water and electricity bills
  • Mortgage or rent payments due on the deceased’s home
  • Bills for funeral or cremation expenses
  • Notary invoices
  • Tax bills
How to send bills by email

  • Take a clearly legible photo of the bill or invoice, or scan it.
  • Email it to facturen.nabestaanden@nl.abnamro.com. In the subject line, please state your reference number, which you can find in the email or letter you received from us.
  • Please specify an ABN AMRO account number and/or the full name and date of birth of the deceased. 
  • Clearly state the number of the account from which you want us to debit the amount due on the bill. And if the bill does not show a beneficiary account number, specify the number for the account you want us to pay the amount into.
How to send bills by post

  • Please write an ABN AMRO account number and/or the full name and date of birth of the deceased on the bill. Also write your reference number on it. You can find your reference number in the email or letter you received from us. 
  • Clearly state the number of the account from which you want us to debit the amount due on the bill. And if the bill does not show a beneficiary account number, specify the number for the account you want us to pay the amount into.
  • Forward the bill to the address below. No stamp required.
